So...I've been a slacker the last month (OK, two months). I have a Halloween post to do, I have a Thanksgiving post to do, and I also have a trip to New Orleans to write about. Plus assorted other misc weekends thrown in there in between.
Now that I'm finally able to find the time to do compose....my computer has died.
My home computer is currently in surgery, in the trusty and skilled hands of my work IT hero, Paul.
He's a skilled surgeon....but the prognosis is not good.
"But Nej, you're obviously able to post from another computer, what's the hold up?"
All of my pictures are on my laptop. ALL. OF. MY. PICTURES.
And you all know how many pictures I take.
"Don't you back up your pictures? When's the last time you've done it. There can't be that many missing, right??"
(mumbling) I last backed it up this summer sometime...or maybe it was this spring.
Crap, I don't even remember when it was. :-)
Yes, yes...I know. How stupid could I be??? I've just been busy, and haven't thought about doing it. And now....well....I'm screwed.
I do, although, have a handy little flash drive at home, that MAY just have some of those missing pictures on it. (please keep your fingers crossed for me)
So....until I can get home and find out....I'm in mourning.
Actually, I'll still be in mourning if the pics ARE on a little flash drive....because there are many pictures I've taken between this summer and October.
(sigh)
Paul tells me to stop being so negative, and that not all hope is lost....but I'm asking all of my readers to please light a candle - heck, light a whole box of 'em if you can. (birthday candles in the junk drawer totally count!!)
As of the last report, the hard drive fixer upper program he's running will be complete in 3633 hours and 14 minutes.

My apologies.
Whew! Life has a way of getting away from a person, doesn't it? With this being Thursday already, and nary a blog post has been done.....I'm thinking this week will be called The Adventures of Mot and Nej take a week off??
My dog of 13 years died on Tuesday. Lady Penelope of the Loess "Penny"

Not the best picture of her...but the picture is "her." I mean...she loved being outside, no matter the weather (which is why she's so shaggy in this pic...she wanted to be outside 24/7...so we kept her fur long during the winter)....and also explains the dead grass all over. She was a tom boy, so to speak. Never afraid to get dirty. Her nose was always covered in dirt. :-)
We had to take her to the vet and have her put down. We noticed her breathing was labored....and one day, while trying to remove all 70 million tons of snow from our roof....we also noticed that she'd decided to stop walking. (sigh) A couple hours, a drive to my hometown, and a vet bill later....she was diagnosed with congestive heart failure.
Mot took her in for her followup appointment the following week (last week), and I was truly afraid she wasn't going to come home with him. It had gotten that bad.
Tuesday was, yet again, another followup. But I took the morning off of work and went along. I knew what was going to have to happen....and I wasn't happy about it.
How do you decide to end the life of someone (something?) who trusts you, but can't speak for themselves? They aren't in pain, but are uncomfortable and has a low quality of life, and getting lower each day. Tuesday was the 4th day of her refusing to eat.
So that, coupled with the fact we haven't seen sunshine since we left Denver two weeks ago.....I'm just "off". I'm a little easier to anger, a little easier to tears, and all I want to do it curl up in my bed and hide. Now my dog is dead, our puppy is, well, a puppy, and driving me insane. The one remaining male Scotty is jealous of the puppy, and marking anything of mine he can find. Bowling bag, new wool coat.....(sigh).
I want to go back to Denver, do you think it's still sunny there? It doesn't have to be Denver...it can be Detroit, San Jon....anywhere with sun. Do any of you live where the sun is out? Do you have a spare bed...couch.....piece of floor I can sleep on??? I never thought I'd say it, but I need a massage, a facial, a pedicure, about 7 hours in a tanning booth....and any other pampering (and UV light providing) I can think of.
Plus, I'm falling behind on my commitments. Elliott - I swear....the post I've been working on for you will appear soon.....I promise!!!!!!!! I just don't want to write it while so darned down in the dumps....because the post is quite the opposite!!!!! :-)
I'm also falling horribly behind on my blog reading. I started back up a little today, so if I haven't commented on your posts lately, it's nothing personal. I'll get caught up. No worries. :-)

Wordless Wednesday
OK...I should actually call it "less wordy than usual Wednesday."
I'm still trying to find some time to post my weekend update. I promise to have it done before next weekend shows up. :-) :-)
This picture I'm posting today was from the previous weekend. Drunken Canasta.
The boys stopped by last night for dinner.
Steve brought with him a flash drive.
A flash drive with videos.
Videos of me, that night...playing cards....sloshed.
(sigh)
I watched it through my fingers.....it was a horror movie, brought to reality.
I'm such a happy, giddy drunk. :-)
At one point, I say, "See, I'm not that drunk, I knew it was your deal."
At least, that's what I think I said. The alcohol induced carpet wrapped around my tongue was wreaking havoc with my speech. :-)

And, ironically, the tshirt I was wearing that night says...."Well-behaved women seldom make history."
Boy, ain't that the truth. :-)

Dear...

Dear Cure for the Common Cold,
Where oh where are you? Are you shy? Are you afraid of the paparazzi that will surely follow you're every move once you show yourself to the world? Don't be afraid.
If you'd like, you can stay at my house. I have a nice guest room. No one will every think to look for you there. It can be our little secret. I even promise to pretend I'm sick once and while, to throw them off the trail.
This is just plain silly, don't you think??? You can help so many people!!!
COME ON!!!! Come out of hiding, you miserable excuse for a cure! Where are you already? We've been patiently waiting, and we're not going to wait any longer. If we can't find you, we'll find your family. Don't think we won't!!!
I'm SICK AND TIRED of snot rolling from my nose, uncontrollably. I'd like to talk and laugh without hocking up a lung. Is that so much to ask???
What do you want already? Money? My first-born? You name it, and we'll make a deal!
Signed,
Desperately Seeking the Cure
Omaha, NE

300 !?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Holy crap folks. 300 posts? Um...wow. I don't know what to say. I had no idea I put so much crap out there for people to read. Kinda scary when I think about it. :-)
So....it's 6:38 pm. I'm sitting in my office, staring out my window. I have a spin class at the gym in 1 hour, and don't feel like driving all the way home, just to turn around and come right back. I really have nothing much to blog about. So....hmmmm......it's not a tag, not a meme....it's just a random list of strange things. Please, someone tell me I'm not alone on these, k??
1) Peanut Butter and Banana Bread must be female. (no nuts)
2) Toilet paper, over or under? I've always been an over gal.... unless I have a cat that insists on unrolling the entire roll. We've become under people for the time being.
3) Lobster = cockroach of the sea. 'Nuff said. :-(~
4) When it comes to riding my bike....I'll take speed and endurance over hills any day. I hate hills!!!
5) Closed doors in the house bug me. (closets are the exception)
6) Love kayaking, terrified of deep water. Go figure!
7) Potato chips on my PB&J - yum!
8) Crunchy Soft Foods, just can't do them. Pears are a good example. Actually, most fruit (all fruit) falls into that category.
9) If walking side by side with Mot, I must walk on his right side. If I don't....I continuously bump into him.
10) On my keyboard at work....the letters E, S, C, V, N, M and 1 are completely gone. Not gone gone. But the lettering is gone. It really annoys people if they use my computer.
11) 12:34 am or pm...either way...I have to avert my eyes immediately, until it turns 12:35. Bag joo joo.
12) I used to mow the lawn in decreasing squares. I'd mow along the outside edge, and then work my way into the middle. Mot thought I was nuts. :-)
That's all I've got for now. It's almost 7:00...so I'd better log off, lock the place up, and head to the gym.
'Night all !!
