What is that??

Nebraska has not seen the light of day in weeks.

The presence of the sun has been zero...nada, zip, zilch.....for nearly three weeks.

Or more.

I've lost track.

Sunday morning I got up from the couch to let the dogs out. I'd just taken a shower, and was sitting around in my bathrobe, trying to work up the motivation to get dressed and get on with my day.

I walked to the dining room, opened the sliding glass door....and just stood there.

And stood some more.

I rubbed my eyes.

I shook my head a few times.

More eye rubbing.

"I must be seeing things."

"Nope, I think it's real. The sky....."

"It's....it's...........blue."

Hallelujah.

I closed the door, and went downstairs to my closet to get dressed. While I was down there, I switched laundry from the washer to the dryer. I folded a load of dried clothes. I put on my shoes and socks.

I went back upstairs....looked outside....and it was cloudy.

Completely overcast.

We went from not a cloud in the sky, back to depressing in less than 1/2 an hour.

(sigh)

With head lowered, and shoulder slumped, I walked to the couch, curled up under a blanket, and watched TrueBlood episodes for the next couple of hours.

OK, OK...for the next like 5 hours.

The next time the dogs wanted to be let out, I opened the door and......

"No friggin' way."

"It can't be."

Rubbing my eyes.

Shaking my head.

More eye rubbing.

"Is that..........? NO...can't be."

"It's....it's...snowing?"

We got a good couple of inches over the course of the afternoon.

All the grass that was finally showing was now gone again. The piles and piles of snow throughout the city finally melting were added to.

At the gym this morning, the weatherman told me that it was going to be sunny...not partly sunny, not partly cloudy....sunny....starting tomorrow.

I ignored the part where he said the highs were going to be in the single digits.

Why?

Because the sun will be out!!!!!!!!!

Bring it on!!!! :-)

The sun was out last week when it was really cold. It didn't matter that it was cold...the sun was lovely to see! I can relate!

@ Moonspun - I've never been affected by the lack of sun like I have this year. I'm used to the snow and the cold....but we usually need sunglasses until the very second the sun goes down...from all the glare off the snow.

I can't remember where I put my sunglasses last. Wherever they are, I'm sure they've got a layer of dust on them. :-)

We have some sun today...I just hope it lasts for more than an hour! I've had more trouble with the lack of sunshine this winter too. I wonder what is up with that?

wv: awlei as in, I am awlei tired of all these gloomy days!

@ Brook - if I'd known it was only going to last an hour yesterday...I'd have been walking around the neighborhood in my bathrobe, afraid to take my eyes off of it. :-)

I've had that same incredulous response to our weather today. I woke up to pouring - POURING - rain. By the time I was out of my shower, nothing. Drove to work in gray gloom, then I look out my window at my desk to clear blue sky. Then clouds. Then clear blue sky.

At least I know it'll be in the 70's when I go out to lunch.

@ Elliott - I'm looking out my window now, seeing hurricane force winds blowing lots of white snow around, creating white outs and making these movie quality storm sounds, branches falling from trees, etc....thinking to myself "Hmmmmm...maybe I'll stay in for lunch today." At least I can get a little caught up on my blog reading. :-) :-)

70's

(sigh)

Must be hard keeping up with all that changing weather. You need to carry around a little bag with a pocket hat, pocket umbrella, pocket ski suit and pocket skis!

@ mo - pocket skis, eh? I can see them now...about 1.5 feet long...and little fold up poles as well. Would make getting around allot faster, that's for sure.

Maybe a dog sled team to get me to work. Could be fun! :-)

I remember days like those.

Since South Bend is right there not far off the lake, there was a two week period where the weather forecast was "overcast, occasional snow flurries, high, 22"

I miss snow. I don't miss not seeing the sun.

Except when I'm trying to eat breakfast at the table in the winter and the sun is blinding all of us. I suppose they make curtains or something like that which would help, but...

@ mjenks - and these new-fangled things they call blinds. We went out on a limb, and tried a set. Crazy things actually work. :-) :-)
