Tapas anyone?

Two close friends of mine, and I, got together for dinner Wednesday night. I met both of them while singing in a chorus in Omaha. Laura still sings with them, Sheri left just before I did. We try to meet up at least once a month for dinners and drinks.

Try is the key word there. :-)

On Wednesday afternoon, as usual, we were emailing each other still trying to decide where to go. I'd heard great things about a place near where I live, so I threw it out there as a suggestion.

Turns out it's one of Laura's favorite places to go!! So that's what we decided on finally.

Espana, Tapas and Sangria. Yummo!

(pardon the blury and fuzzy pis...was trying to be "cool" and take the picture without being noticed)

Laura and I arrived first, and sat down to pick from the 40 million different tapas they serve.

We also were"forced" (ahem) to listen to the extremely sexy Spanish waiter explain the specials and the paella offered.

Thick accent, long dark curly locks, deep brown eyes......Anyway....

(When he brought our ticket out and asked if there was anything else he could get us, Sheri said, "Sure, whatcha got?" followed by "a neck massage would be great.")

We settled on 8 different selections. They were, in no particular order...Tres Quesos (cheese plate, figs, and this sweet jelly stuff), Patatas Brava (spicey HOT fried potatoes), tomato bread with ham and prosciutto, Chicken Empanadas, Carpaccio Bistec (yep, that's right, I ate raw meat), stuffed cannelloni, and a stuffed pork loin.

And, of course, flan for dessert.

There wasn't one thing served that wasn't absolutely delicious!!!!!! I can't wait to take Mot there!

They have flamenco performers, musicians and such on the weekends....the atmosphere is awesome!!!! The building is very long and narrow, and brings a very broad clientele.

Even though it's not the cheapest place to go, I think it's going to turn into one of our favorite places to eat. You definitely get what you pay for!!!! :-)

I tried going to the Tapas place here once. We sat there for about fifteen minutes without seeing the waiter again. At that point, I decided to get up and walk to the restaurant across the street. My friends decided I was in the right.

That soured me toward it, but then when my boss, who was Belgian, came from that place once telling of how it was so wonderful because it was just like Europe, I decided not to go back. I really hated that man.

@ mjenks - That's horrible! Bad service is the worst thing ever! I'll pay more if the service is good....I'll go more often and out of my way if they service is good. It's their livelihood, and to not wait on the people who are essentially paying their bills...it's craziness!!!!!

@ Mo - I never thought we'd get full on the small portions...but we were stuffed to the gills...and probably should have asked for assistance rolling ourselves out the door when it was all said and done!!! The sangria was marvelous, and the vibe was great! :-)

Have I got a story to tell...
I'll save it for later but there is a wonderful tapas place here-pricey but worth it. And the service is great too.
I might have to steal the how bout a neck massage line.

Sheri cracks me up...she's been there done everything. And isn't afraid to say what's on her mind. Love it!!!

Sounds like a lot of fun! I think I don't get out enough, because I can't remember the last time I went somewhere that didn't feature a kid's menu.

@ Vic, during one of our MANY trips to Home Depot and Lowes this weekend, a nice older gentleman stopped to ask us what we were building, and how many kids we had. (Apparently we look responsible enough to have children - snicker- and our lumber choices interestingly enough resembled playground building materials...or maybe a tree house)

I laughed and said "one"...and pointed at Mot.

The nice man didn't see the humor. But Mot and I giggled like 6 year olds. :-)
