Carmi at Written Inc posts a weekly photographic theme, and I thought I'd join in on the fun this week.
" Thematic Photographic is kinda simple. Just post a pic that follows the theme......"
This week's theme - BIG!!!!!!!!
I'm constantly frustrated with trying to capture the feeling of how large something is....via a photograph. I think I've taken some awesome shots, and when I get home to look at them....well...they usually just don't live up to my own expectations.
Numerous times I've stopped taking pictures because "I'm just not going to be able to show the size, or beauty that I'm seeing with my own two eyes. "
Having said that, I thought this pic was fun.....and came close to showing exactly how BIG this thing really was. :-)

It is so very hard to capture and convey BIG in a photo. This does do a good job. Way back when the world was young I went to Woolaroc-a buffalo sanctuary and museum in Oklahoma. Apparently the buffalo/bison of today are much smaller than they used to be. They had on display a mounted buffalo that was cosiderably bigger than my car-a Subaru Forrester-putting it in the rhino size category. Yeah, a rhino nearly decided to hump my brand new silver/grey car when we got stopped in "traffic" going through Lion Country Safari, down in south Florida. I am not kidding. Somewhere we have pictures. That of course do not do justice to the event.
PS-remember #2 on the random list? Whoops.
No, no.....you read my post....commented on my post...then added to the "conversation". #2 totally doesn't apply here. :-) :-)
WHEW! And I think I remembered where the pictures are. Still in the disposable camera of course!
How many cameras do you have with pictures just waiting to be processed? Reminds me of those commercials you see...with all the people standing in a room, in the things they were wearing when their picture was taken. You can hear a beeping sound, and they all wonder who's going to be deleted. :-)
Seriously? I think 4 or 5. That is pretty sad. I'm gonna have to get them developed and then never use a disposable again!
I've still got one laying around. Used it when we moved into this house 3 years ago....didn't want to use my good camera with all the drywall dust in the air. :-)
Mine are all from my pre-digital camera days. They are also the reason I finally got a digital camera.
Yeah, Bison are freaking, amazingly, big.
You could always put a Lego man in the picture. That'd probably do the trick. ;)
We probably have a lego storm trooper, or Hans floating around somewhere. :-)
This big guy comes as close as you can get to "Big" great capture!
@ Amanda - thanks!!!! :-)
Being a Buffalo native, I love this shot!
Damn!! Yes - he's BIG!!
@ g - Yeah, soooo glad I had a big lens to use that day. No way I was getting much closer. :-)
@ Peg - Buffalo, eh? You a Bills fan then? Or is that just a silly question? (hehe)
