Fugitive on the Run

As I'm driving to work this morning, I see a gopher......running for all he's worth across the country club grounds, and into the road. He was constantly looking back behind him the entire time.

The big dummy ran out into the road, right in front of me. Luckily, I had noticed the furry critter and had almost come to a stop, expecting him to do just what he did.

He stopped in the middle of my lane....panting. I kid you not, panting. The poor little thing was completely worn out...and was still looking back at the golf course.

Mot and I had noticed there were a TON of gopher holes on the course, while we were out for a walk last week. I'm guessing this is one of the perpetrators. :-)

One of my father's favorite movies (and mine too) is Caddyshack. As I'm staring at the little rodent in the middle of the road, I can only imagine what horrors he was trying to escape.

Sandy: I want you to kill every gophers on the golf course!

Carl: Correct me if I'm wrong Sandy, but if I kill all the golfers, they're gonna lock me up and throw away the key...

Sandy: Not golfers, you great fool! Gophers! The *little* *brown*, *furry* *rodents* -!

Carl: We can do that; we don't even have to have a reason. All right, let's do the same thing, but with gophers -!

A horse guy in New York used to pay my dad to sit in his pastures and "take out" the ground hogs. I am sure the holes were a danger to the horses. That was the year we learned the woodchuck song. Caddyshack is still a great movie. Did you ever see what or who the little guy was running from? Hear any explosions off in the distance?

Didn't see any pursuers, and definitely no explosions. I was secretly hoping to see a disheveled groundskeeper running towards us with a rake, but no such luck.

People further west in Nebraska pay people to take out the prairie dogs for the same reason. Those holes are hell on horses and cattle.

Now I will make you sad...I've never seen Caddyshack. I know. I'm a loser.

Oh, and your letter...is N, for Nej. ;) Let me know when it's up!

Never seen it, eh? I would say you don't know what you're missing...but everyone's movie opinions are so different. My luck, you'd watch it and then wonder what kind of crazy I am. (hehe) It's just a fun movie...elements of funny and idiotic all balled up together. :-)

Stupid gophers.

I just spent an hour laughing like a hyena at the cake wrecks blog. Thanks for that!

She's a hoot, isn't she?

Zibs - this particular gopher wasn't nearly as bright as the one in the movie, that's for sure.

I love that movie, despise all the sequels.

Cowguy, I agree. I can't even say that I've seen an entire sequel. It just seemed so damn wrong. There's no way they could be anywhere nearly as good.
